can be compiled. A version called QBasic (QuickBasic) was available on MS Windows for years, under DOS, but is no longer supported.

History: BASIC was invented by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz in 1964.
Current stable version of XBasic is 6.2.3; stable version of yabasic
is 2.730; stable version of ScriptBasic is v1.0build30 .
Applications: BASIC is used to learn programming, to write games, and other non-system tasks.
