Haskell



Description: Haskell is a "general purpose, fully functional programming language." It is based on lambda calculus. Haskell is currently the functional language upon which most research is being done. Haskell as a functional language is contrasted with imperative languages such as C, Java, Pascal, and Ada. Another functional language is SQL.

History: Haskell was developed by committee in the 1980s and is named after the mathematician Haskell Curry. The latest version is Haskell 98.
